Information you provide
If you subscribe to my writing, you provide your email address. The sign-up form on this site sends your email address to Substack, which opens in a new tab to complete your subscription. Newsletter subscriptions are managed through Substack and are also subject to Substack’s privacy practices.
If you send an inquiry, the site may collect your name, email address, organization or project, relevant links, timeframe, and the message you submit. I use that information to review and respond to your inquiry.
If you claim a preorder bonus, the site may collect your name, email address, bookstore, optional order number, and an optional receipt or screenshot. I use that information to confirm eligibility and communicate with you about the preorder event.
Information collected automatically
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. Cloudflare describes this service as not using cookies and not tracking individual visitors across sites. The site itself does not set cookies or use advertising trackers.
Like any website, the services that host and deliver this site (listed below) receive standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type when you visit. The site’s fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google also receives that standard request information.
How your information is used
Information submitted through this website is used to:
- Respond to inquiries
- Evaluate potential advisory, speaking, interview, press, or other work
- Administer preorder bonuses and related events
- Send writing or publication updates when you have chosen to subscribe

Your personal information is not sold or rented.
Receipt uploads
You do not need to include payment-card information, a home address, or other sensitive information in a preorder receipt. Please redact information I do not need. I only need enough information to confirm the preorder.
Uploaded receipts are stored with your form submission by Netlify, the service that runs this site’s forms.
